Toledo Ohio Newborn Photography Session
Don’t those newborn smiles just make you melt into a little puddle?! This beautiful little lady gave me a couple and I just can’t handle it!
This session was a Swaddled Newborn Session - This is a mini newborn session that lasts approximately 1 hour. Perfect for parents that just want a few simple images of just their new baby! With this type of session, all poses of baby are done wrapped/swaddled (no unwrapped/naked poses) and includes a variety of poses in one prop and on one fabric backdrop color of your choice.
For Swaddled sessions, I really love to choose a prop that I can get the most variety out of. You only get 1 prop with this session, so let’s make the most of it! Buckets are perfect for that because I can do some poses like these of your baby on their back & facing up and then I can get an entirely new look & pose by turning baby around facing forward. So much more variety and more photos that way! Not all props offer that much variety, so I really love to use a bucket, crate or basket for these sessions.

We got so lucky with the most gorgeous evening. It’s giving me all the fall vibes and I can’t wait to meet this sweet babe!'
That wine red / burgundy maternity gown is just gorgeous and went perfectly with the leaves that are just starting to change and show that beautiful fall color. While I do tend to focus on the mom-to-be at maternity sessions, I love including the soon-to-be dad as well! Documenting the excitement of your new arrival is my favorite!
Outdoor maternity sessions are scheduled during golden hour, which is about an hour or so before sunset. That is how we achieve that beautiful lighting that just GLOWS! Outdoor maternity photo sessions take place in the greater Toledo Ohio area and I serve clients living in NW Ohio areas including Sylvania, Perrysburg, Ottawa Hills, Bowling Green, and Findlay, as well as SE Michigan areas such as Ann Arbor and Detroit.

So, what is the best age for newborn photos? Every photographer will have a different answer!
I photograph newborns within the first 3 weeks, 8-12 days old is my sweet spot. That said, I’ve had 3.5 week olds that were dream babies and 6 day old babies that took lots of extra patience! You just never really know what you’re going to get! I have lots of tricks though. If your baby was born early or more on the itty bitty side, it can sometimes be helpful to wait closer to 2-3 weeks so baby can put on a little bit of weight and figure out eating. If your baby is overdue or a little chunk, it’s can be better to schedule earlier so that they don’t outgrow my wraps & outfits and can more easily fit into my props.
The best way to ensure a spot in my schedule is to prebook with your due date (ideally while still in the 2nd trimester). Due to the unpredictable nature of newborns, I limited the number of newborn sessions I take each month. Upon booking, I will send you a Prep Guide that is filled with absolutely everything you need to know to help plan for your session - the studio address, what to expect, what to bring, wardrobe & styling suggestions, etc. Once your baby has made their arrival, we will then set a date & time for the session to take place.

This golden hour light is just everything! I absolutely love doing maternity sessions just before sunset so that we can get that beautiful, warm, glowing light - it’s what all of my photographer dreams are made of! This expecting mama absolutely rocked her maternity photo session! I just love the lavender maternity gown that she chose for photos.
Maternity sessions are typically scheduled some time around 27-35 weeks. This is when you have a nice round baby bump to show off but are still feeling pretty good and not dealing with all of the lovely swelling that tends to happen in the final weeks of pregnancy. That said, any time is fine just as long as you are feeling great!
This session was obviously done outdoors on-location, however, they can also be done in-studio as well. My natural light home studio is located in Sylvania Ohio. It white, bright & airy and has the perfect neutral backdrop for some classic & beautiful photos. When weather permits, I love doing maternity sessions outdoors as well! Outdoor maternity photos are done about an hour or so before sunset - I schedule for golden hour because that is when the beautiful lighting happens! Mid-day sun can be harsh and not very flattering, so we definitely want to avoid that.
Because I only take on a limited number of sessions each month, I recommend booking your maternity photography session about 1-3 months in advance. Weekend spots, especially, tend to be booked up weeks and months in advance, so it’s best not to wait too long to get on my schedule!
Upon booking your session, I will send over some wardrobe suggestions and places to shop - I also carry a small selection of maternity gowns that are available to use, as well. I have just have a handful of options, however, I do plan to add more in the future. If you would like to see what maternity dresses that I have, just ask! I am happy to send photos.

Why is it that anything teeny newborn sized is 100x cuter?? This little knit romper is so cozy & adorable - I am just loving this super sweet heart prop, too!
Newborn sessions take place in my natural light home studio located in Sylvania, Ohio. As part of your session, all clients have access to my large collection of props & accessories. All you have to do is show up and I can take care of the rest!
Newborn sessions are done when baby is 5-21 days old - this is when they are still in that sweet, sleepy, milk drunk phase. It goes by in the blink of an eye! I am only able to accept a limited number of due dates each month, therefore, I recommend booking your session while still in the 2nd trimester. That said, newborns can be unpredictable in their arrivals, so I do get gaps in my schedule. If you’re already in your 3rd trimester or your baby is already here, you can definitely still reach out to see if I can fit you in!
Upon booking, you will be sent a prep that guide that is filled with absolutely everything you need to know to help plan for your session. What to expect, what to bring, wardrobe suggestions, the studio address, and other important info is all covered in the prep guide! You will also be sent a questionnaire to complete. The questionnaire will ask about what colors you would like see in the photos, any prop requests, and more! I love stylizing sessions! I have had a lot of clients say they aren’t the most creative or really know what colors to choose, so they just leave it all up to me and that is just fine! I am happy to choose everything for you and put together some adorable setups.
When you arrive for your newborn session, everything will be setup and ready to go for photos. If we are doing any family poses, we will start with those first. I will have the studio heated up quite warm & toasty, so it’s best to get those family photos done while everyone is still looking their best. Once family poses are completed, parents can just relax at that point and baby will be star of the show for the rest of the session!
I will typically begin with all of prop poses first (examples of prop poses are baby in a bucket, bowl, crate, bed, basket, etc). Once props are completed, I will do some wrapped/swaddled poses and then unwrap baby for more adorable poses on my fabric backdrops. I have a whole rainbow of color options available!
Toledo Ohio Cake Smash Photography Session
It’s been cake smash crazy over here at the studio! I am loving it though - so much fun!
Just a reminder : In order to ensure a spot in my schedule, I recommend contacting me about 2-3 months in advance. I absolutely love planning cake smashes! Your birthday babe can also end the cake smash with a splash in milk/bubble bath.
Cake smash sessions include a short & sweet session of just your birthday baby in one outfit. I will take just a couple quick photos without the cake to begin and then the real fun starts! I will then document your 1 year old baby smashing their cake - it is so fun! Some babies get REALLY into it and make a big mess, others might be a little more timid about the idea of digging into a cake. Either way, it’s such an exciting experience!
You can also add-on a “splash” at the end, where your little one can wash off all of that cake in a milk or bubble bath. The cutest!
I can provide simple balloons (no helium), greenery & florals, a cake stand or vintage high chair, as well as an outfit to wear for the photos. Please note: the client does provide their own cake. A white cake or naked is perfect - you can go over the top with a super fancy cake too! I do recommend staying away from chocolate cake and/or icing because it can look yucky in the photos.
Ann Arbor Baby Photography Studio - 6 Months Baby Session
I broke out this old prop from my inventory for the first time in years! I have so many props in storage, that some times I forget what I have. It’s a bit of an addiction but who can blame me?
I have been photographing this baby boy since he was a newborn. I photographed his newborn session, 3 months photo session, 6 months photo session, and now his 9 months photo session. It’s so hard to believe! It is never lost on me what an honor it is to be able to watch my little clients grow like that.
This 9 month baby photo session took place at my natural light, bright & airy in-home photography studio located in Sylvania Ohio. I have clients travel to me from all over NW Ohio & SE Michigan, including Toledo, Perrysburg, Ottawa Hills, Bowling Green, Findlay, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. My home studio is fully stocked with everything needed for your baby’s photography session! I have lots of unique & vintage props to choose from, a wardrobe full of baby boy and baby girls outfits to wear, as well as a huge selection of headbands and accessories. All you have to do is show up and I can take care of the rest! No need to stress about finding an outfit, I have you covered.
In order to ensure a spot in my schedule, I recommend booking about 2-3 months in advance. Weekend spots tend to book well in advance, so if you know you really want a weekend date for your session, then it’s best to get in contact with me sooner rather than later.
